It just occurred to me that my boys, aged 5 and 2, will not know a world where a black man cannot be President. Damn straight.

It occurred to me as I sat with Ava on the couch on Wednesday morning and watched the replay of Obama's acceptance speech that all she saw was "the President." It wasn't even a matter of color. Maybe *that* world will still be beyond even her reach. But it feels like we're getting there.
