This patent application by Apple regarding their research into digital video recorder (DVR) technologies has me salivating. If you know me at all, you know how much I love my TiVo. And yet, were Apple to build a DVR, I would happily back over my TiVo on the way to the nearest Apple Store. I’m just saying. In case Apple is listening.
I can comment on this one– I have DishDVR and it is great and wonderful too. It costs 50 bucks to activate the USB port to offload recording. It’s not wifi. I can buy their 4-500 dollar dedicated mobile viewer (actually not that bad).Apple’s thing, I can’t even remeber other than it was less than a sucess. I believe it came out in a new incarnation.
Apple DVR is called (searches apple site)…How ingeniuos they call it Apple TV. After looking at the rumor. It would be nice to dock a itouch or iphone with a DVR.
DishDVR has this and the hardware. Costs would be similar on the Apple DVR. Would you get it with an upgrade to a satelite system? Cable modem? Ethernet?
THere are several markets to look at.
Yea, I would buy one , once the first generation comes through with the bugs. That’s my style….
