We had an ice storm earlier this week. I, along with every other individual in the Midwest1, took pictures of the cool ice capades.

I am limiting myself to just one photo, taken a day later, when the sun was shining and everything was melting. The photo looks better in the biggest size.

Icy trees on the hill in the sunlight

  1. Witness, this search on Flickr turned up over 10,000 ice storm pictures just this week ()

I admire your fortitude. I was still taking ice pictures as of this morning, but I’ve now forced myself to stop. The ice storm is over; I have to deal with that truth and get on with my life.

This is a very nice picture. It looks like that tree made it through the storm with most of its limbs intact, which is more than I can say for a lot of the pines around here.

We had very little tree damage in our neighborhood, and none at our house. I think the storm missed us (Lawrence is in a weather bubble), and we had our trees trimmed just last year, so that probably took care of the weaker/dead limbs. Our pin oak was a sight though, with all its leaves still onboard, the branches sagged almost all the way down. It seems to be fine now.

Just in time for snow tonight!
