Siracusa is like the best eggnog
I have just finished reading John Siracusa's review of Apple's Mac OS X 10.5, a.k.a. Leopard. It came out... last night, I guess, and there have been links to it all over the Internet all day. It was, as is usual for his reviews of the Apple OS, excellent. Detailed, opinionated, funny, sensible, long, filled with screenshots and movies (and, happily, a drop down table of contents to skip some of the more... esoteric, stuff).
I waited all day to read it, until I had gotten some tasks done, and until I had some moments guaranteed to myself to savor it. I feel about his reviews like this: at the grocery store last weekend, I saw that the eggnog has been rolled out in the milk aisle. I love eggnog, especially a (local?) variety called Milknog. When I buy it (and I haven't yet) I will leave it in the fridge all day, waiting until my tasks are done, until I have a moment to savor it fully. Because there is so much fat in this stuff that you can't have too much of it.
John Siracusa is like eggnog to me. I anticipate it, and the savoring is better the longer I have waited.

I started my Leopard upgrade when I was home for lunch. I'm looking forward to trying out this fancy new OS.
After telling Denny to suck it, I am disinclined to tell you the same. Instead, I will sweetly inquire as to the success of your upgrade.
It went well. The MacBook now takes ~15 seconds to go to sleep, which I'll have to read about. Quick Look is awesome so far, as is Instant Screen Sharing from the Finder. Spaces is neat, but I'm not quite sure whether or how I'm going to use it.
PS -- My old man makes an eggnog every year at New Year's that is fantastic. I don't sit around and drink 'nog like some people do, but it's a tasty treat when I get it.

Agreed. I always look forward to Siracusa's reviews. I actually enjoy going back and reading his early ones too, such as for DP3 and DP4. I think he even reviewed Rhapsody at some point (or maybe I'm thinking of DP3). Anyway, fascinating how much OS X has evolved since then. I was a freakishly early adopter of OS X and I still bemoan the change to Dock segregation — I liked it a lot better when anything could be placed anywhere in the dock, even mounted drives. Oh well.
