A good day

Two years ago, when I voted in Nebraska, not a sin­gle per­son I voted for won elected office.  This year, vot­ing in Kansas, almost every­one I voted for won their race.

It feels good to win.  I know the mar­gins are still razor thin, and the coun­try is still divided down the mid­dle.  But it is still a good day.

I am also glad to see, in the after­math, that the Democ­rats aren’t claim­ing a man­date or any thing stu­pid like that.  Pelosi was remark­ably con­cil­ia­tory and upbeat about bipar­ti­san­ship in her press con­fer­ence this morn­ing.  Of course, it could be (is) all polit­i­cal pos­tur­ing.  Pol­i­tics and politi­cians will always hew to form.  I have lit­tle expec­ta­tion for real change (nee, risk) on the part of the Democ­rats, espe­cially with the Pres­i­den­tial race looming.

But damn, I feel good today.
