Saving the best

We’ve been sort of luke­warm on _Alias_ all sea­son, and have just been let­ting the episodes pile up on our TiVo. Well, spurred on by some “It ain’t dead yet,” arti­cles in _Entertainment Weekly_ and on the Inter­net, we began watch­ing those eps tonight. This was the one where Mar­shall flies to Cuba to save Sidney.

Sin­gle best line in TV this sea­son. I don’t know that I have laughed harder at TV since I last watched _Scrubs_.

And you know what? You have to have seen the episode to get it. So for those of you who have. Mar­shall has been instructed to find a “dig­ging tool” by Jack, and he fum­bles around and comes up with a spork. On hear­ing this, Jack turns quizzi­cally to Vaughn, and asks:

“What’s a spork?”

Deliv­ered with such comic tim­ing, and so dead­pan, and so appro­pri­ately used. I actu­ally paused it to laugh fully and heartily, to dis­cuss it with Tiffany (who just laughed *at* me, I think), and then I rewound it to watch it again, before con­tin­u­ing with the show.
