NYT shows some brass

Two days ago, the New York Times ran with a cover photo of the recent bus bombing in Israel. They chose a particularly bloody photo, with a dead woman hanging out the window of the bus.

Times officials are quoted as saying that they did it because "there are times when our readers would not be well served by a sanitized version of events."

You go, gray lady.

From Newsdesigner.com, NYT's Israel Photo, warning, real life violence ahead.

"there are times when our readers would not be well served by a sanitized version of events."

Yes, you have a point. Still, the cover, above the fold, is a place of special prominence that deserves judicious treatment. Anyway, at least the NYT can claim ignorance about the whole "Harry in Afghanistan" thing.
